Regulatory ComplianceCompliance support provided by Alpha Terra includes:
Although our environmental compliance services cover most environmental program areas and all environmental media, we generally begin serving a client by completing an environmental assessment. The assessment is used to identify all applicable environmental regulations, review existing internal systems used to comply with these regulations, and to improve on these systems where needed. To assure ongoing compliance with applicable regulations it is necessary to have a formal Environmental Management System (EMS). The EMS must be customized to each company's individual situation, needs, and capabilities. The customized environmental management system Alpha Terra develops is referred to as an Environmental Management Resource Guide (EMRG). Air Permitting, Reporting and RecordkeepingOur Air Quality Services include completing air emissions inventories and permit reviews, preparing construction and operation permit applications, reviewing control technologies (LACT, RACT, MACT, BACT, LAER), assisting with permit compliance documentation and demonstrations, preparing reports and compliance summaries, and interpreting regulations and guidance in specific situations and applications. (top) Waste ManagementWaste Management Services include assistance in complying with federal and state waste management regulations. Services include evaluating and developing procedures for handling, treating and disposing of wastes, assisting with the identification of disposal options, identifying waste minimization opportunities, and auditing off-site disposal facilities (top) Wastewater and Storm WaterWastewater and Storm Water Services include evaluations to identify applicable regulations and ordinances, screening of treatment alternatives when needed, preparation of discharge permit applications, preparation of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, and storm water monitoring support. (top) Facility Response Plans (FRP)Oil storage facilities that have 1 million gallons of oil storage or more may be required to prepare an FRP. The FRP addresses primarily all the planning necessary to respond to a major release of oil. It must consider environmentally sensitive areas, human health concerns, clean up resources, and training. (top) Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plans (SPCC)The SPCC regulations were updated in August of 2003, and are currently the subject of much attention. The old rule addressed primarily facilities that stored oil. The new rule requires most facilities that store or use oil in quantities greater than 1,320 gallons to prepare an SPCC plan. The SPCC plan is intended primarily to prevent the release of oil. (top) Customized Environmental Management SystemsThe EMRG is a tool developed by Alpha Terra and used by us and our clients to address all critical compliance matters, minimize cost of compliance, evaluate anticipated changes in operating conditions or raw materials, and help achieve enhancements in environmental performance. These can be prepared as paper systems; however, the electronic EMRG has many advantages over the older paper system. (Learn more about the Electronic EMS) Information Included in EMRG
Alpha Terra's Environmental Management System can be prepared for you as either a highly organized 3-ring binder or as a paperless system. The paperless or electronic system holds many advantages over a paper system, including:
